Job Description
The Health and Sports Medicine Center (HSMC) Abu Dhabi is designed to improve the health, physical performance and wellbeing of military staff.
It aims to accomplish this mission through a global, all-encompassing approach to health involving the integrated work programs of four specialized sections: Physical Education and Training; Sports and Exercise Medicine; Nutrition and Dietetics; and Health Education.
The four sections comprising the HSMC have separate purposes and, therefore, work programs. However, considerable overlap exists between them and, consequently, each section will work together to achieve the global HSMC mission.
Sports Medicine Specialist
Improve the quality and effectiveness of rehabilitation, prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal health problems in assigned clinics and military bases.
1. Perform pre-exercise evaluation, injury assessment and injury treatment
2. Diagnose, treat and prevent musculoskeletal injuries and medical issues that occur during sports and physical training
3. Provide both long-term and immediate supervision for the rehabilitation of individuals
4. Maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient records
5. Undertake weekly on-site review and clinics at various assigned clinics throughout the UAE
6. Ensure excellent collaboration and follow-up procedures with the regional military medical centres and hospitals.
7. Work closely with the Sports Medicine Consultant to achieve the detailed tasks.
8. Oversee musculoskeletal screening of military recruits and personnel
9. Provide statistical data and maintain audits regarding services provided
10. Provide regular performance reviews of clinics and staff under his responsibility
11. Collaborate with relevant staff on exercise programs and patient management.
12. Give educational talks on available sport medicine services and on any health related topic as required by the Health Education Section.
Requirements
Medical Degree. Postgraduate qualified in sports medicine-minimum recognized is MSc; Minimum 5 years post-specialization relevant work experience; good computer skills; experienced in musculoskeletal problem management, field testing and performance monitoring; knowledge of Arabic language beneficial.
