Job Description
The Health and Sports Medicine Center (HSMC) Abu Dhabi is designed to improve the health, physical performance and wellbeing of military staff.
It aims to accomplish this mission through a global, all-encompassing approach to health involving the integrated work programs of four specialized sections: Physical Education and Training; Sports and Exercise Medicine; Nutrition and Dietetics; and Health Education.
The four sections comprising the HSMC have separate purposes and, therefore, work programs. However, considerable overlap exists between them and, consequently, each section will work together to achieve the global HSMC mission.
Health Educator
Improve the quality and effectiveness of rehabilitation, prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal health problems in assigned clinics and military bases.
Develop and deliver an existing Health and Fitness Curriculum, to improve the knowledge base within an organization and help personnel to make informed choices for living a healthy lifestyle
Research and design health education literature and learning materials
Implement various methods of assessment and accreditation to suit the learning abilities of all students
Deliver questionnaires to ascertain the level of understanding concerning all aspects of leading a healthy lifestyle
Aid the Head of Health Education with the investigation, design and implementation of interventions and campaigns to promote physical activity, healthy eating, and other healthy living behaviors (e.g. sleep and the dangers of smoking)
Keep up to date with current educational thinking and ideas for curriculum development.
Requirements
Minimum 2 years post-qualification relevant work experience.
Undergraduate qualification in health, sport or exercise related discipline;
Excellent computer skills (in particular MS PowerPoint and MS Publisher);
Teaching experience essential;
Fluent in English and Arabic.
